Sedation Dentistry

Anxiety should not keep you from optimal dental health. Approximately 30% of the population avoids the dentist due to either fear or anxiety, and this leads to other significant dental issues as a result. Sedation can help alleviate your anxiety and you can have a restful, stress free experience. We offer two options for sedation: Oral Sedation and IV Sedation.

Oral Sedation

Our protocols for each patient are different, based on their needs. Before your appointment, you will be given oral sedatives that will help you relax during the procedure. You are partially awake and able to communicate, however, you will be relaxed and carefree. Often times, patients have no memory of the procedure. You will need someone to provide transportation to and from your appointment and you will be unable to drive for 24 hours. Oral sedation offers a level of sedation perfect for patients who have had a bad dental experience, have trouble keeping their mouth open for a long period of time, or who have claustrophobic issues with dentistry.

IV Sedation

This is the best option for patients requiring longer procedures or patients who are fearful of dentistry. All of our IV Sedation cases are administered and controlled by a licensed anesthesiologist. Before your procedure, an IV is gently placed and you are given medication that works quickly. You are asleep during the procedure and afterwards wake quickly with no memory of the procedure. Different medications are used based on the length of the procedure and your personal medical history. All cases are customized based on each patient. You will need someone to provide transportation to and from your appointment and you will be unable to drive for 24 hours.
